The Board of T&G Global Limited (T&G) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Gareth Edgecombe as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). His commencement date is yet to be confirmed. Additionally, Mr Peter Landon-Lane has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will be the Acting CEO effective 16 April 2018, until Mr Gareth Edgecombe starts.
Today the Board has accepted Thomas Bargetzi’s wish to step down from his role as Acting CEO effective 31 March 2018 for family-related reasons.
Chairman Professor Klaus Josef Lutz says: “We are sure that with the addition of Gareth and Peter to the executive team, T&G Global will reach its full potential with BayWa’s support and continued investment.”
Mr Edgecombe is currently CEO of Comfort Group. Previously, he was President of the Campbell Soup Company for the Asia Pacific region and President of The Coca-Cola Company South Pacific.
Mr Edgecombe has accumulated significant international business experience developing brands across the Asia Pacific region and has successfully led large geographically dispersed teams.

Mr Edgecombe began his career in New Zealand with Coca-Cola Amatil in sales and marketing and was General Manager of Puhoi Valley Cheese. He also served on the board of the Australian Food and Grocery Council.
Mr Peter Landon-Lane is currently the CEO of Plant & Food Research Ltd where he led the merger of the Crop and Food Research Institute and HortResearch Institutes.
Chairman Professor Klaus Lutz says, “The Board is delighted to appoint Mr Landon-Lane as COO and Acting CEO, particularly given his deep understanding of the horticultural sector and experience of T&G Global’s apple plant variety rights (PVRs) including JAZZ™, Envy™ and Pacific Rose™.”
Mr Landon-Lane has significant operational experience gained with the Fonterra Cooperative group and previously led Fonterra’s businesses in Europe and Japan as well as sales and operations planning for Fonterra’s global cheese and protein business.
He began his career with the New Zealand Department of Trade and Industry where he spent time as the Trade Commissioner in the Philippines and Beijing and has served on the Advisory Board of the New Zealand China Council. Mr Landon-Lane is also a former Chairman of Science New Zealand.
Both Mr Edgecombe and Mr Landon-Lane will be based in T&G Global’s head office at Mt Wellington, Auckland.
The Board thanked Mr Thomas Bargetzi for his contributions in leading the business since December 2017.
