Chief Executive Officer
Gareth Edgecombe joined T&G Global as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in July 2018. He was most recently CEO of Comfort Group and is a former president of the Campbell Soup Company for the Asia Pacific region and president of The Coca-Cola Company South Pacific. A former general manager of Puhoi Valley Cheese, Gareth has also served on the board of the Australian Food and Grocery Council.
During his career, Gareth has accumulated significant international business experience developing brands across the Asia Pacific region and has successfully led large geographically dispersed teams. He is well positioned to lead T&G Global through the next phase of growth with a strong customer and consumer focus supported by global brands.
Chief Operating Officer
Peter joined T&G as chief operating officer in April 2018, initially also as acting CEO prior to Gareth Edgecombe commencing in the role. Prior to joining T&G, Peter was CEO of Plant & Food Research for nine years during which time he led the merger of the Crop & Food Research and HortResearch Institutes.
Peter has significant international experience gained with the Fonterra Cooperative Group, having led Fonterra businesses in Europe, Japan and Taiwan as well as sales and operations planning for Fonterra’s global cheese and protein business.
He began his career with the New Zealand Department of Trade and Industry where he spent time as the Trade Commissioner in the Philippines and Beijing. Peter has served on the advisory board of the New Zealand China Council and is a former Chairman of Science New Zealand.
Bastian von Streit
Chief Financial Officer
Bastian joined T&G Global as chief financial officer from his homeland Germany in October 2018. Prior to taking up his present role, Bastian was director of finance and accounting at Willy Bogner GmbH & Co KGaA in Munich, responsible for financial and group accounting, credit control, taxes and treasury. A graduate of Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Bastian is based in Auckland and leads T&G’s global finance team across 12 countries who collectively provide financial support and guidance to T&G’s customers, suppliers, shareholders and people.
Managing Director NZ Produce
Andrew joined T&G Global as executive general manager New Zealand produce in May 2014. He leads a national team covering our New Zealand markets as well as the tropical, citrus and covered crops commercial categories and transport to service the needs of both our New Zealand retail and grower customers.
Monique joined T&G Global in September 2018 and has more than 25 years’ experience running IT projects and providing support to businesses. Having spent nine years in consulting services at IBM NZ and 14 working in New Zealand businesses, including Vodafone and Fletcher Building, Monique understands the need to deliver good, robust solutions that enable businesses to achieve their objectives. She leads T&G’s IT team from our Mt Wellington head office in New Zealand.
Director of Category – Apples
Sarah was appointed director of category – apples in December 2018 after holding the role of executive general manager international with T&G Global since August 2015. Prior to this she was general manager sales and marketing of T&G’s diversified products team for three years.
Tim is responsible for T&G Global’s group strategy, budget, reporting, mergers and acquisition investments, joint ventures and divestments. He leads a team focused on building long term growth for T&G’s key produce categories and major trading activities in domestic and international markets.
Director People and Culture
Heather joined T&G as chief human resources officer based in our Mt Wellington, Auckland office in June 2018. Prior to this she was head of HR (NZ) and group executive talent with Goodman Fielder. Heather is also a former director of global HR for Fonterra and held other key HR positions within the cooperative. She has extensive corporate HR experience including well-known companies such as Merck Sharp & Dohme and Frucor Beverages Limited. Heather was also founding partner of New Zealand recruitment agency, Pohlen Kean.
Board Of Directors
Klaus Josef Lutz
Professor Klaus Lutz is chair of T&G Global’s board and has been BayWa AG’s chief executive officer since July 2008. He was appointed honorary professor of Managerial Economics of Co-operative Societies at the Technical University of Munich in 2013 and has been vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Munich and Upper Bavaria since 2016.
Andreas Helber has been BayWa AG’s chief financial officer since 2010. Mr Helber is on the supervisory boards of a number of listed and private companies and began his career at KPMG in Munich where he qualified as a tax consultant and auditor.
Christiane Bell has sat on T&G Global’s board as representative of our majority shareholder, BayWa since 2014. She joined BayWa as fresh produce director in 2013 and was previously fruits and vegetables buyer of Penny Markt, a German discount chain.
Mr Rob Hewett was appointed as an independent director in August 2018. He is also co-chair of Silver Fern Farms Limited and chair of Silver Fern Farms Co-operative Limited as well as of Clutha Development Incorporated. Furthermore, he is director on the Silver Fern Farms Board, Farmlands Co-operative Society Limited and Hilton Haulage LP Limited, Pioneer Energy. He holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce and Marketing (Hons), a BCom (Ag) Economics and is a chartered member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and a finalist in the Deloitte Top 200 Chairman of the Year.
Mau Wah Liu
Mau Wah Liu has more than 30 years of experience in the produce industry and enterprise management. In 1998, he founded Golden Wing Mau Enterprise Development Co., Ltd. He is the Chairman of Golden Wing Mau Agricultural Produce Corporation (Joy Wing Mau Group), which he established in 2003. Mr Liu has won numerous industry honours and awards including receiving the China Fruit Marketing Association Award “Person of the Year” in 2016.
Ralf Tobias Priske
Ralf Tobias Priske joined the T&G board in December 2017. He started working for BayWa AG in 1998 as member of the legal department providing advice to all different branches of the company and had a leading role in the acquisition of the majority of the shares of T&G by BayWa in 2012. From 2013 to 2015 he worked for the renewable energy sector of the BayWa Group as Deputy Legal Counsel focusing on establishing the renewable energy business in the USA. In July 2015 Mr Priske was appointed as BayWa’s Company Secretary and lives in Rosenheim near Munich, Germany.
Carol Campbell was appointed as a director in June 2010 and is currently chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Previously a partner of Ernst & Young for 25 years she is also director of a number of other companies including NZ Post Ltd, Kingfish Ltd, Marlin Global Ltd, Barramundi Ltd, Kiwibank Ltd and NZME Limited.
